We don't sell books, but people have asked what dog training and behavior books we recommend so we thought we'd make a little list of them. This list is by no means complete, and we'll be adding to it from time to time.

The Culture Clash by Jean Donaldson.
This may be the best book written about dog behavior.
Of special note are the sections comparing the "Walt Disney View" to the "B. F. Skinner View."

The Other End Of The Leash-Patricia B. McConnell

The Other End of the Leash by Patricia McConnell. Do you want to speak to your dog in a language s/he understands? This book will help you understand why humans and dogs do the stuff we do. Written by the number one dog behaviorist in the country, who also is the host of "Calling All Pets" on public radio. (We also have consulted her, so we know she's good.)

Aggression in Dogs. If you have an aggressive dog you need to read this book written by Brenda Aloff. Also attend a seminar of hers if you can. This book will give you helpful advice on what to do in various situations. Dog on human aggression or dog/dog aggression.
This was a really helpful book to little Toffee, because besides being hyperactive, she was also very dog aggressive (a scary thing when you're doing agility.)

Dog Health and Nutrition for Dummies by Dr. Chris Zink

Dog Health and Nutrition for Dummies by Chris Zink DVM PhD. Were you affected by the dog food poisoning and recall? Not if you followed the recipes in this book. Written by Christine Zink, a licensed vet, who also writes books on agility, this book gives good, fact based nutritional information.

Herding Dogs-Progressive Training Vergil Holland

Herding Dogs-Progressive Training. This book by Vergil Holland will help you get on the right track with your dog. Of course, nothing sustitutes for a good in person trainer, so use this as a supplement.
