Generally there are two distinct styles of American Bulldogs, which are the "Classic" and "Standard." The Classic type is also known as the Johnson (named after John Johnson, who was influencial in that type of the breed or the "Bully." The Standard is also known as the Scott (after Allen Scott, who was influential in that type of the breed or the "Performance." American Bulldogs generally have wonderful, friendly temperaments and are good with children and real family oriented dogs.
